How to set up your skateboard
Step 1: Choosing the Perfect Skateboard Setup
Your skateboard setup is the foundation of your skating experience. Here’s a quick guide to picking the right equipment:
Deck
- Size:
- 8.0 inches and above: More stability for beginners.
- 7.5 to 8.0 inches: Better maneuverability for tricks.
Trucks
- Width Match: Ensure trucks match your deck width.
- Quality: Choose durable, high-quality trucks.
Wheels
- Size: 50-54mm for a balance of speed and stability.
- Hardness: 78A-87A for a smoother ride on rough surfaces.
Bearings
- Quality: Opt for high-quality bearings for a smooth roll.
Hardware
- Components: Secure your trucks with proper bolts and nuts.
Grip Tape
- Texture: Medium grit for good traction.
- Adhesive: Strong adhesive to keep it firmly attached.
Step 2: Prioritize Safety Gear
- Helmet: Invest in a certified skateboard helmet that fits snugly and covers your forehead. This essential piece of gear can protect you from head injuries.
- Pads: Knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards are crucial for shielding your joints from impacts and abrasions.
SET UP INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
- Skateboard Components: Deck, trucks, wheels, bearings, hardware, grip tape.
- Tools: Skate tool or wrench, screwdriver, razor blade or utility knife.




Step 2: Apply Grip Tape
- Peel: Remove the backing from the grip tape.
- Apply: Carefully place it on the top of the deck, pressing firmly.
- Trim: Use a razor blade to cut off excess tape around the edges.




Step 3: Attach Trucks
- Position: Align the trucks with the pre-drilled holes in the deck.
- Insert Bolts: Push bolts through the holes from the top of the deck.
- Tighten: Secure the trucks with nuts on the underside using your skate tool.



Step 4: Install Bearings and Wheels
- Insert Bearings: Press bearings into the wheels.
- Attach Wheels: Place wheels onto the truck axles.
- Secure Wheels: Tighten the axle nuts with your skate tool, ensuring wheels spin freely but aren’t loose.


Step 5: Final Check
- Tighten All Nuts and Bolts: Ensure everything is securely fastened.
- Test Spin: Give the wheels a spin to check for smoothness and proper assembly.
